Three Classes a Week

 

One of the main functions of our Basic Training Program is to introduce to the student the concepts of sparring safely with other children and adults.  Once students understand the basics of sparring safely, and develop an interest in competing, they may be invited to join the Competition Team.

 

What is the Competition Team?

 

The Competition Team is for the students interested in competing in tournaments. Our main focus will be on sharpening student’s sparring skills. Students will learn advanced sparring concepts and techniques such as ring control, advanced footwork, kicking combinations, timing drills and strategy. In addition to the sparring student will also learn intermediate and advanced forms.

 

Who can qualify for the Competition Team?

 

To qualify a student must be a Yellow belt or above and have their instructor's approval.

How do I get recommended?

To qualify for advance training on the Competition Team, you must:
        1.       Have set a goal of black belt with the full support of your family. 
        2.       Have regular belt exam participation. 
        3.       Be triple A rated in martial arts, school/work and at home (Black Belt Excellence). 
        4.       Have a high level of enthusiasm for martial arts class. 
        5.       For students still in school, a good report card on conduct and attitude from parents and teachers. 
        6.       Support school functions.  (Parents Night out, Bring a Buddy Break a Board Night, Movie Nights, etc.)
        7.       Have good attendance and eagerness to make up absences. 
        8.       Be current with tuition payments.


What are the benefits of the Competition Team?

When a student joins the Competition Team they receive following privileges:

  1. Weekly Sparring Sessions for the Competition Team only.

  2. Special Advanced training for tournaments.

  3. Intermediate and advanced forms training.

  4. Special Competition Team patch.

  5. Opportunity to wear the blue and black uniform of the Competition Team.

  6. Opportunity to participate in tournaments. (with instructor approval)
